As an interior designer, the question of what makes a house, a home, has always fascinated me. 

I am still amazed at how the mediation of space, through the selection of choice finishes and furnishings; the use of quality materials in the correct colours, and their interplay with layout and light can help transform a place, into your place. 

However, I find it equally intriguing, how as a sentient being, your sense of smell can not only help you connect more intimately to a space and occasion, it can work to positively define it; much like an old song can take you back to that first kiss at the school dance. There is no doubt that the right fragrance can be as evocative.

As a young girl growing up in London, scented candles were reserved for special occasions bought out only with Mama's special china.

I remember taking immense delight in their sumptuous smell slowly filling the room. I remember sitting ages on end, mesmerised by their flickering flames and the playful shadows they would cast on the walls. Even now, I feel comfort and warmth in the memory.

Having moved to Surrey with my family several years ago, I wanted to continue to explore my love for interiors, along with what I passionately consider the ultimate accessory for any home or occasion; the beautifully scented, luxury candle.

So armed with much vigour, verve and gusto, I set out on a journey, with a vision to create the optimal candle range.

The following year was a demanding one; an exacting period of research and development, with experimentation involving hundreds of different combinations of waxes, wicks and fragrances.
